From 1973-02-24 at University of Iowa: Jam > Bass Solo > Jam > Sugar Magnolia (17:33)

ENJOY! The Sugar Mags is very nice as well. This is from the Taper's Section.

Senor Caboose, check out Phil's sound on this one. I know you'll like it.

Great gigley wigley, just what the doctor ordered. Phil is the man. Thanks for the link. This show is a definitive Phil "zone" show.

This is all great stuff and I was lucky to save it before Dead dot net changed the availability. Thanks for the reminder, might just bring it to work tomorrow on the mp3 player. I've been playing it through an FM transmitter into the boombox, works fine - lasts long time.

If you put the MP3 in Audacity, you can see & hear that it's way over saturated and rather poor quality. It's best to torrent it.
If you use utorrent, you can cherry pick this >
gd73-02-24.sbd.elliot.11929.sbeok.shnf
(same exact jam, but without the Sugar Magnolia)

A little more information on this show snippet here:
http://deadessays.blogspot.com/2009/12/from-incomplete-show-files-february.html

"There is a poor AUD of the end of the second set (from Wave That Flag to the end) - it's described at length in the Taping Compendium as a typically excellent '73 Truckin'>Eyes jam - but it is still not on the Archive. So for now, we have to make do with two very brief SBD fragments, one from the end of the first set, and one a mere nine-minute excerpt of the jam out of Eyes of the World. (Which, by the way, is mislabeled as the Truckin>Nobody's Fault jam.)
There might not be much hope for the rest of the second set in SBD, since Latvala and Lemieux have both noted that reel #5 (the Truckin'>Eyes) is missing from the Vault!"

This was Lemieux's description in the Taper's Section:
"Here is the final reel (reel #6 of 6) of the Iowa City, IA, show from 2/24/73. Unfortunately, reel #5 is missing from the vault, but what’s on reel #6 is certainly worth hearing: Jam>Bass Solo>Jam>Sugar Magnolia. Too bad the 46 minutes that precedes this jam is missing, but at least this excellent jam remains."

reel 5 has sat for years in some attic of a long dead-head who borrowed it from Dick, while all involved parties were baking on acid. Cosmicharlie will phase into a remote viewing search and find said reel and others that still exist....somewhere in the cosmos. Ommmmmmm

So just how long is that deadhead? If he stands head and shoulders above the crowd it should make the tape-hoarding bastard easy to spot...

I believe that this show was taped by Kid Candelario. Much of it is in the vault, but a significant portion of the second set is missing.

this is the very same Phil Jam, but without Sugar Magnolia and it's not over-saturated MP3 >>
